Pearl E. Ireland, 85

DENTON, Md. - Pearl E. Ireland of Denton, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at the Caroline Home for Hospice in Denton. She was 85. Born in Denton, Mrs. Ireland was the daughter of the late Daniel Harris and Sally Porter Harris. Her husband, John "Judy" H. Ireland died Dec. 10, 2000. In addition to being a homemaker and raising her children, Mrs. Ireland had worked in the Denton Elementary School cafeteria. She began at the old Fourth Street Denton School in the 1960's and retired in the mid-1990's from the Sharp Road Elementary School. Mrs. Ireland is survived by three sons, Charles H. Ireland and his wife Frannie of Denton, Thomas L. Ireland and his wife Beverley of Harrington, Del., and Robert W. Ireland and his wife Sharon of Denton; one sister, Rowena Phillips of Houston, Del.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ireland is preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel Harris and Raymond "Butch" Harris; and two sisters, Eleanor Thetford and Margaret Baker. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St. in Denton, where friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening. The interment will be in the Denton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may send memorial donations to the Caroline Hospice Foundation, PO Box 362, Denton, MD 21629.
