Pearl (Smith) Chaffinch, 78

SEAFORD - Pearl (Smith) Chaffinch of Seaford died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. She was 78.

Mrs. Chaffinch was born in Ridgely, Md., daughter of the late Roland J. and Annie (Buckle) Smith.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Chaffinch was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Virgil Wilson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4961 and Women of the Moose Lodge 1728.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Elzie Chaffinch Sr. in 2003.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ben F. and Kay Chaffinch and Clayton E. Chaffinch Jr., all of Seaford; a daughter and a son-in-law, Carol D. and Warren Benson of Laurel; a brother and a sister-in-law, Frank and Betty Smith of Crumpton, Md.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Doris and Clarance Marvel of Millington, Md., and Patricia Crew of Ellendale; six grandchildren, Adam Chaffinch, Bethany Chaffinch, Steve Givens, Michael Chaffinch, Marcy Walls and Marybeth Dickerson; 11 great-grandchildren, Madison Chaffinch, Grace Chaffinch, Ellie Chaffinch, Skyler Chaffinch, Owen Chaffinch, Chase Flood, Logan Flood, Colby Pfleger, Marissa Walls, Caden Dickerson and Laine Dickerson.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Watson-Yates Funeral Home, Front and King streets, Seaford, where friends may call two hours earlier. The Rev. Doris Whaley will officiate.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford.
