Pauline Virginia Hyland

LAUREL - Pauline Virginia Collins Hyland, 89, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at her Irene Avenue home in Laurel. Born in Seaford, she was the daughter of the late Kemp Collins and Beatrice (Jenkins) Robinson. Her late husband, Harvey W. Hyland, Sr. died in 1969. She retired after sixteen years from the Laurel School District as a Teacher's Aide. She was a member of New Zion United Methodist Church where she served on the Gospel Choir, Usher Board, Finance Committee and the United Methodist Women. Her survivors include six children, Doris (John) Collins of Wilmington, Barbara (Hodges) Showell of Frederica, Janice Hyland of Magnolia, Harvey, Jr. (Moezell) Paulette and Marsha Hyland, all of Laurel; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister and three brothers, Patricia Washington of Bridgeville; James (Elizabeth), Wilmer and Oscar (Elaine) Jenkins; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Carter, of Delmar, Md.; one brother-in-law, Fred (Ernestine) Hyland of Newark; and a host of nieces and nephews. A grandson, Jeffrey Collins; five sisters, Lucy Collins, Frances Collins, Mabel Ricketts, Bertha Nutter and Sarah Waples; preceded her in death. Funeral services will be noon, Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at United Deliverance Bible Center Church in Laurel. Interment will be in Zion United Methodist Church in San Domingo near Mardela Springs, Md. Friends may call Monday, Dec. 27, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at New Zion United Methodist Church in Laurel, and on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, one hour prior to service.
