
WINCHESTER, Va. - Pauline (Pat) Thomas Kent was born Jan. 17, 1923- she went to meet her lord Feb. 19, 2018.
Pauline was born in Tangier Island, Va. to Hattie Laird Thomas and Eulice Thomas.
After graduating high school in 1940 she left Tangier to go to the big city "Washington D.C." where she found work as a telephone switch board operator. She met her love Lloyd (Kent) on a blind date in 1943. Pauline married Lloyd after World War II in June 1946. Soon after their children, Gail and Richard were born.
In 1953 they moved to College Park, Md. In August of 1958 they moved to Silver Spring, Md. During this time Pauline stayed home and raised their children, she was a homemaker. She did much volunteer work including Brownies and Girl Scout leader.
June 1980 Pauline and Lloyd moved to Dover where their daughter Gail and her family lived. While in Dover, they enjoyed many years of traveling. Pauline joined Sprig and Twig Garden Club and she volunteered for meals on wheels, and driving patients to Doctors visits.
She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church for over 20 years. Pauline was always very physically active and could be seen walking every morning around her neighborhood. She loved going out to lunch with her girlfriends. Her husband "Kent" Lloyd passed in August of 2009. In 2012, Pauline moved to Winchester, Va. where her son Dick lived, until her death.
Pauline always had a smile for everyone and was lots of fun. She will be missed by many.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by, her husband, Lloyd (Kent); two brothers, Eulice "Champie" Thomas, Rudy A. Thomas; and grandson, Christopher Maddox Benson.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail and her husband, Brian M. Benson, their children Brian and Trina, Bradley, Jeffrey and Stephanie. Her son, Richard and his wife, Darlene and their children, Katherine and her husband, Shawn O'Grady, Steven, David, his wife, Rachel and John Kent. She has ten great-grandchildren, Wesley, Maddox, Lila, Kate, Gavin, Caroline, Rowan and Braden Benson and Mason and Simon Kent. She is also survived by her two sister-in-laws, Barbara P. Thomas and Juanita C. Thomas, and her many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 350 McKee Rd, Dover, DE 19904. Friends may call one hour prior for a viewing. Interment to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Camden.
