
Pauline Miozza, 92
DOVER - Pauline Miozza passed away, Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Kent General Hospital.
Pauline was born April 6, 1930 in E. Boston, Massachusetts to the late Joseph Gleason and Elizabeth Crawford Gleason. She married her husband Joseph in 1952, where she followed his military career, and traveled to many states and countries. Her husband retired in 1974, and they settled in Dover.
Pauline was a life time member of Little Creek F.D. Ladies Auxiliary; she volunteered at MMC for 15 years, and later became a banquet supervisor, and received several personal thank you letters from Tom Carper, Ruthann Minner and Harriet Smith Windsor for her outstanding service. She volunteered at many organizations in Dover, including the Salvation Army and Catholic Charities, and was a member of Holy Cross Church.
Pauline enjoyed being with her family most of all, she had a sense of adventure, and loved to travel, she loved crafting, gardening, cooking and loved to watch the birds at her bird feeder.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Miozza in 2020; sons, Joseph Miozza, Jr. and Paul Michael Miozza; her brothers, Joseph (& Dorothy) Gleason, George (& Jean) Gleason, Robert (& Ida) Gleason, Charles Gleason; her sisters, Isabel Gleason, Alice Corlito (& Fred) Eleanor Bernabei (& Dominic); and niece, Judith Thibeau.
She is survived by her brother, James W. Gleason of E. Boston; children, Barbara J. Johnson, Steven L. Miozza and Christine L. Miozza all of Dover, grandchildren, Rebecca L. Nixon, Kyle A. Johnson, Anthony E. Miozza, Vincent M. Miozza, Joseph P. Miozza; great grandchildren, Lane Nixon, Alex and Ambra Miozza, Avery and Quinn Johnson; sister in law, Nancy Gleason; daughter in law, Alice Williams; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In July of 2022 Pauline moved into State Street Assisted Living, and the end of her life was truly enriched by the staff and all the new friends she made there, she had a great sense of humor and enjoyed being around people who made her laugh, which she did a lot in the short time she lived there.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM, Friday, January 13, 2023 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 621 S. State Street, Dover. Friends may call from 5-7PM, Thursday evening at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10), Dover, DE. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park.
Pauline always had a special place in her heart for babies and children, in lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
