Paul M. Viehman, 67 SEAFORD - Paul M. Viehman, of Seaford, died Saturday, July 26, 2008 in his home. He was 67. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Mr. Viehman attended the Delaware State Police Academy in 1970. He was a police officer for over 30 years, retiring in 2001 as Police Chief of Blades. He then became a NASCAR official working in garage security at tracks all across the U.S. for two years, which had been a life long dream. He then worked at Bargain Bill's Flea Market and the House Bar and Grill. Mr. Viehman and his wife Beverly, a licensed Nursing Home Administrator, managed Fairhome Nursing Home from 1976 to 1981. He was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 9, past president and life member of Delaware Police Chiefs Council, a member of the Delaware Police Chiefs Foundation and past president of the Sussex County police Chiefs. Mr. Viehman was a member of the American Legion and the VFW in Seaford and the Round Table of the Village Elders. He was a past member of the Blades Fire Dept., Seaford Fire Department, Rotary Club, Elks Lodge and the Blue Knights. Mr. Viehman is survived by his wife of 37 years, Beverly Smith Viehman; a daughter, Paula Lathbury; two grandchildren, Tracey and Jamey; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Viehman of Fla., and Hollis Viehman of Calif.; two sisters, Rose Reed of Calif., and Virgie Wells of Md., and eight nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008 in the Blades United Methodist Church, 4th and Market Streets. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to Fraternal of Police Lodge 9, 300 Virginia Ave, Seaford, DE 19973. Arrangements by the Cranston Funeral Home, Seaford.
