Paul Joseph Bastian, 74

DOVER - Paul Joseph Bastian, of Dover, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, in his home. He was 74. Mr. Bastian was born Oct. 4, 1934, in Philadelphia, to the late Harry Bastian Jr. and Hanna Rivel Bastian. He was a veteran of the Vietnam and Korean Wars. Mr. Bastian retired after 32 years from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant, Flight Engineer, in 1984. He was a member of Union Lodge AF&AM in Dover, currently a 32 degree Mason, member of the Shriners, Knights Templar, Tall Cedars, Past Grand Tall Cedar, VFW, Del Vets, Walter L. Fox Post 2, and the American Legion and was on the Walter L. Fox Post 2 Memorial Team Honor Guard. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wives, Dorothy M. and AnnMarie, both succumbed by cancer; and his brother, Harry Bastian III. Mr. Bastian is survived by his wife, Shirley Bastian of Dover; two sons, Paul J. Bastian Jr. of Abington, Pa., and Frank Harry Bastian of Warminster, Pa., and their wives Patti and Anastasia; grandchildren, Shannon and Leah, Brennen and Makara; great-granddaughter, Lena Mae Warren; and stepson, Mark A. Huffman. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Centreville Community Church, 101 Gray Fox Lane, Centreville, MD 21617.
