DOVER - Paul J. "Pete" McQuaide Jr. died on Saturday, April 14, 2018.
Pete is survived by his wife, Jean (Tucker) McQuaide; his son and daughter-in-law, Pete and Ona McQuaide of Middletown; his son, David and daughter-in-law Robyn McQuaide and their children, Joshua, Ryan and Riley, of Dover; his stepson, Tom Hulliger and wife Ione and their children Laura and Sara, of Metarie, La.; and stepson, Edward Bovee of Dover. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Jane (Mallon) McQuaide of Cincinnati, Ohio; his brother, Dennis McQuaide; his sister, Patricia McQuaide; and his brother, Michael McQuaide.
Pete was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on Aug. 21, 1939. Upon graduating from Purcell High School in Cincinnati, he joined the United States Air Force where he eventually made his way to Dover Air Force Base. After the USAF, he took a job with Reichhold Chemical in Cheswold, from which he retired as Production Superintendent after many years of service. He enjoyed fishing in the Delaware Bay, attending the theater in Wilmington and caring for his dogs.
A funeral is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marydel, Md., located at 522 Main Street. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. following the service, interment will be held at Sharon Hills Memorial Cemetery in Dover.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans Foundation.
