Patricia R. Lord, 75
HARRINGTON - Patricia R. Lord passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at her home. She was the daughter of the late, Marvin and Ruby Richardson.
Patricia was a 1964 graduate of the Harrington High School. In her lifetime, she had various jobs. Years ago, she was a pipe fitter and helped with the construction of Beebe Hospital. She also worked for a while at the Harrington Shirt Factory, and more recently, retired from the Dover Post Office. When she was not hard at work, Patricia was a devoted mother to her son Tom. No matter the activity, she was always there to support him, whether as a Den Mother with the Cub Scouts, the Head Chaperone for the Lake Forest Marching Band, or even in adulthood when Tom was in the Navy and took her first ever flight all the way to Japan to visit him. Patricia made sure to save up all year long so that she could take Tom on vacation growing up. Favorite destinations included Myrtle Beach and Florida.
Patricia loved working on puzzles and was an avid reader. She enjoyed attending her great niece's sporting events, and loved going to Rudy's, especially on chicken and dumpling nights. She loved animals, especially cats, and loved to feed all the neighborhood strays. She will be remembered as a loving mom, grandmother, and sister who always made her family priority. Her quiet disposition and reserved nature will forever be missed.
She is survived by her son, Tom Lord (Nancy); sisters, Linda Wamsley (Mikell), Nancy Welch; grandchildren, Jasmine and Brandon.
A memorial service for Patricia will be Friday, October 29, 2021, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, at 1 p.m. with a visitation for family and friends starting at 12 noon. Interment will be private.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, please visit us at www.melvinfuneralhome.com to express or send condolences.
