Patricia Phillips Bayne

Patricia Phillips Bayne, 83 CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Patricia Phillips Bayne, died Friday, February 26, 2010, surrounded by her family in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown, Md. She was 83. Mrs. Bayne was born April 30, 1926, daughter of the late George Clarke and Mary Dunn Phillips. She was raised in Tampa, Fla. and as a teenager she moved to Massachusetts. Her family later moved to Sudlersville, Md., where she met and married her husband in 1949. In 1968, they moved to Chestertown, where she worked in the medical field, was a bookkeeper for their family owned business Chestertown Service Center and owned and operated Bayne's Upholstery Shop. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 86, Chestertown Cruise Club, Cotillion Club, American Legion Post 192 and the Kent Island Yacht Club. She loved her family and enjoyed boating, dancing, crocheting, reading, and her dogs. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Wayne Phillips who died in World War II. Mrs. Bayne is survived by her husband of 60 years, H. Hartley Bayne; five children, Wayne P. Bayne of Boise, Idaho, Donnie Bayne of Rock Hall, Md., Robin Bayne Roemer of Chestertown, Md., Clarke Bayne of Church Hill, Md., and Judy Bayne Smith of Wilmington; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, February 28, in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, Md., and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, March 1, where service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial in Crumpton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to the Humane Society of Kent County, 10720 Augustine Herman Hwy., Chestertown, MD 21620. www.galenafuneralhomeofsls.com.
