Patricia 'Patty' A. DiCarne, 68 BETHANY BEACH - Patricia "Patty" A. DiCarne, formerly of North Wales, Pa., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Thursday, December 17, 2009, in the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 68. Mrs. DiCarne was born on May 8, 1941 in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late William C. and Anna (Tomlinson) Renz. She was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army. Patty retired in 2001 as a Forensic Psychiatric Nurse at the Norristown State Mental Hospital after 21 years of service. After retiring to Bethany Beach, she became the coordinator of the Alternative to Violence Program (AVP) at the prison in Georgetown, and was also an instructor of tai chi. She also volunteered in her spare time with many events in the Bethany Beach area and also at St. Ann's Bazaar. She was a member and lector at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Bethany Beach, and a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association. Patty loved the ocean, enjoyed sailing, traveling, craftwork and was an avid reader. She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Giovanni "John" DiCarne; a daughter, Patricia Santisteban and her husband, Richard of San Antonio, Texas; two granddaughters, Alexandria and Olivia Santisteban; and a sister, Susan Moll and her husband, James of Doylestown, Pa. A funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Patricia's name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21805; or the Sussex County Humane Society, 22918 DuPont Hwy., Georgetown, DE 19947. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.melsonfuneralservices.com.
