LAUREL - Patience P. Slacum, age 49, of Laurel, passed away surrounded by her loving family at home on Jan. 11, 2012. Patience was born in Seaford. She is the daughter of Richard "Pete" and Janet Phillips of Laurel. Patience was a 1980 graduate of Laurel High School, and a 1982 Graduate of Coastal Carolina Community College Morgan City. She was a dental hygienist for Dr. Geipe office in Salisbury, and a member of Portsville United Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her favorite pastimes; playing golf, going to the beach, and adoring animals. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Todd Slacum and their son Seth Slacum; her brothers, Richard G. Phillips and wife Belinda of Louisiana and Jonathan E. Phillips and wife Tana of Louisiana; a sister, Nieca P. Lietzan and husband David of Laurel; her mother-in-law, Barbara Dickerson of Bridgeville; father in law, George Slacum of Georgetown; and nieces and nephews, Adam Lietzan, Emily Lietzan, Richard James Phillips, Whitney Bourque, Morgan Bourque, Kamryn Bourque, Leah Phillips, and Mattie Phillips. A Funeral Service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, where a viewing will be held from noon to 2 p.m. The Rev. Billy Nack will officiate. Interment will follow in Portsville Cemetery.
