Pamela J. (Lewis) Hurd VIOLA - Pamela J. (Lewis) Hurd, of Viola, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at home. She was 49. She was born in Orange, Mass., to H. Richard and Marion Lewis of Felton. Pamela graduated from Caesar Rodney High School, class of 1977, where she was a member of the FFA. She previously worked at Aetna and Wesley College. Pamela was a homemaker where she was a loving wife and devoted mother of Rachel and Stephen. It took a lot of her time, patience, and love to care for her autistic son. Pamela loved to work in her yard, caring for her flowers, and cutting grass. She loved animals especially her cats. She also enjoyed swimming, decorating, and Yankee candles. One of her main focuses in life was autism awareness, which she was a huge advocate. Everyone who knew her was touched by her unique, fun loving, and free spirited personality. She will be sadly missed by all. She was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel John Lewis. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Johnny Hurd; daughter, Rachel M. Hurd; son, Stephen R. Hurd, all of Viola; brother, Michael Lewis of Ashburn, Va.; sister, Janice Whitney of Dover; and mother-in-law, Margaret Hurd of Viola. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Saturday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Interment will be 11 a.m. Monday in the West Orange Cemetery, Orange, Mass.
