Ophelia Ann 'Chubbie' Reynolds, 50
DOVER - Ophelia Ann "Chubbie" Reynolds, of Dover, formerly of Georgetown, departed this life Monday, March 10, 2008, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 50.
Ms. Reynolds was born Nov. 24, 1957, in Dothan, Ala., to Lucy and the late Willie Reynolds of Georgetown.
She received her early education at Sussex Central and later earned a duel degree at Delaware Technical & Community College in the field of criminal justice and human services.
Ms. Reynolds was employed by Stockley Center for several years until her illness. She also worked for the Stevenson Home in Milford.
She was a member of Saint Peter's and Friends Church, Cool Springs, where the late Mollie Briscoe was pastor.
There was nothing that Ms. Reynolds enjoyed more than spending time with her children, grandchildren, friends and family. No matter what the event was, she was always there to support family and friends. She enjoyed spending quality time with her mother, whom she loved so much.
Ms. Reynolds was preceded in death by her father, Willie Reynolds; a sister, Susie Reynolds; a nephew, Travis Reynolds; her maternal grandfather, Woodrow Sparrow; and an uncle, Woodrow Sparrow.
She leaves to cherish her memories two children, Brianna Hall and Brice Hall, both of Dover; her mother, Lucy Reynolds of Georgetown; five grandchildren, Brenae, Kala, Breon, Brice and Vaughn; four sisters, Martha and husband Walter Matthews of Salisbury, Md., Maxine and husband Cecil King of Ellendale, Diane Byrd of Milford and Punie of Enterprise, Ala.; four brothers, Willie J. and wife Cynthia Reynolds of North Carolina, Darrell Paul Reynolds of Enterprise, Larry and wife Nancy Reynolds of Bridgeville and Willie F. and wife Rhonda Reynolds of Seaford; his god-sisters and god-brothers, Katie Bonneville, Emma Adkins, Thomas Ricketts, Anthony Hines and Rosha W. Watson; three goddaughters, Kietsa Hendricks, Charmine Adkins and Kiyana Warren; one godson, Kenji Adkins; two nieces, Cassandra King, Judy King and Erica and Tishena Matthews; three nephews, Keith Reynolds, Devon Reynolds, Rufus Reynolds, Ganez Reynolds, Walter Matthews and Michael Matthews; a special friend, Adam Holmes of Wilmington; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church, Del. 8, Dover, where a viewing will be from 10 to 11:45 a.m.
There will be a public viewing on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover.
Interment will be at Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery, Ellendale.
Repass will be at the Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church dining hall.
