St. John's celebrate 33rd Annual German Oktoberfest

Posted

MILFORD — Oktoberfest is back!  This year, St. John the Apostle Church in Milford will celebrate their 33rd Annual German Oktoberfest. The dates and times are Friday, Oct. 2 from 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 3 from noon to 10 p.m.  The event will be on the grounds of St. John’s Church located at 506 Seabury Ave, Milford, DE (on the corner of Seabury Avenue and School Place in Milford).

On Friday evening, the festivities will kick off with The Funsters Band!

Dancing will make you hungry, but no problem: the ever-popular Oktoberfest international food court will be serving up their traditional German entrees, along with Italian, Spanish, Polish, and Irish food, hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, Italian ice, funnel cake, and homemade baked desserts.

And of course, for the kids, there will be games galore, ranging from inflatables, to face painting, to pumpkin painting, to fire truck and little train rides.

On Saturday, Dave Betz and His German Orchestra and the traditional German dance group, Delaware Enzian Kapelle, will entertain us from noon to 4 p.m. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the Milford Community Smooth Sound Band will provide classic selections in a big band style. To close out the night, from 6 to 10 p.m., will be one of their favorite bands, The Glass Onion!

There will be door prizes throughout the event and a raffle on Saturday evening.  First prize will win $1,000; second prize will win $500; and third prize will win $250.

Oktoberfest will operate on a food ticket system, which will be purchased at the information booth. Both cash and credit/debit card are accepted.
