DOVER - Odelle Regina Watkins, of Houston, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 71. Odelle was born in Pungteague, Va., the daughter of the late Frank Lee and Lillian (Sturgis) Doughty. She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing bingo and crocheting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Watkins and 10 sisters and one brother. She is survived by her husband, Richard A. Watkins Sr.; five children, Richard Watkins and his wife Pamela Lee of Houston, Frank Watkins of Ellendale, Allen Watkins and his wife Margie of Houston, Bonnie Thompson and her husband, Pierce Thompson Jr. of Milford; one sister, Pauline Scavone of Terre Haute, Ind., and five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call after noon. Interment will be in Hopkins Cemetery, Felton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
