Dear Read, 68 DOVER - On Friday February 12th, Norma Jean Dear Read, at the age of 68, was called home by God to rejoin her father, Leroy Dear; mother, Virginia Gunter Dear; and niece, Kari Zimmerman. She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Boyer (wife Beth) and Christopher Boyer (wife Tracy); along with daughter by choice, Kathy Boyer. She is also survived by her two brothers, Leroy (Sonny) Dear (wife Sofie) and Ronald Dear (wife Shirley); and a sister, Lynn Zimmerman. Norma was a very loving grandma (aka: G-ma) to four wonderful grandchildren, Matthew Boyer, Jennifer Boyer, Megan Boyer, and Michael Payne, who were her greatest joy. She also has three nephews, Steve Dear, Tim Dear, Johnny Zimmerman; and two nieces, Leslie Dear and Kasey Perza. Norma worked for State Farm Insurance in Dover for many years where she made many lifelong friends, including Hal Rhoads and Michael Wang (who she considered to be her adopted son) to name a couple, before retiring early to spend valuable time with her family. After retirement her greatest hobbies included keeping an immaculate yard, gardening, crocheting, and taking her grandchildren on day trips to various locations. You will be greatly missed mom, grandma, sister, and aunt. A celebration of life will be held at Wyoming United Methodist Church, 216 Wyoming Mill Rd., Dover DE 19904 at 11 a.m., Thursday February 18, 2016 followed by a time of fellowship and food at the church.
