PENNS GROVE, N.J. - Nancy Ellen Russell (Nixon), the all wise and loving God looked down on July 6, 2009 from his throne and saw the need for: a mother, sister, grandmother and loving friend. This need was fulfilled through the birth of Nancy Ellen Russell, March 25, 1941. She was the older of two children born to the late Roscoe and Grace Woods of Pittsburgh, Pa. She grew up in Pittsburgh and attended Secret Heart High School. While there she was the only African-American to play the violin in the Pittsburgh Symphony Jr. Orchestra as a lead violinist. She continued her education by graduating from Robert Morris as a Court Stenographer. Also, she was a Librarian at the Carnegie Library, in Pennsylvania. She graduated from Sewickley University with her Nursing Degree. She worked at Burlington Co. Memorial Hospital for over 25 years, the President of the Westhampton PTA, and taught night classes at Rancocas Valley Regional High School. After her retirement, she moved to Milford, Del. While there she volunteered at school events and was the Vice-President of Milford Head Start Policy Counsel Committee where she will be truly missed. She leaves to cherish her precious memories of her children, Janeen M. Russell-Sinclair of Vail, Ariz., Harold J. Russell, Jr. of Milford, Del., and Tina M. Russell-Terry of New Castle, Del.; brother, Roscoe Woods of New Jersey; son-in-law, Troy Sinclair of Arizona; sisters-in-law, Josephine Woods of New Jersey, and Ruth Franklin of Maryland; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Hutchinson (deceased), Eddie C. Russell, Jr. of Arizona, Miles Russell, Asia Terry, Natalie Russell, Jayla Russell, all of Delaware, and Rodney Ganges of Pennsylvania; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and bingo buddies. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 16, at Bagwell Funeral Home, 131 S. Broad St., Penns Grove, with a viewing from 9-11 am. Interment will be in Grace Lawn Memorial Park, New Castle, Del.
