Nancy Elizabeth Peters

GREENWOOD - Nancy Elizabeth Peters, née Porter, left us early on Sunday, Feb. 2nd, 2014 at her home near Greenwood. Mrs. Peters was born to Francis Carl & Elizabeth Eberly (Wright) Porter of Greenwood on March 10th, 1932, the youngest of their three children and their only daughter. She grew up in Greenwood and graduated from Greenwood High School, Class of 1950. For most of her life she was a homemaker, a mother to four children and a loving wife. She worked briefly for H.P. Cannon in Bridgeville in the mid 1950s. Mrs. Peters was an owner and officer of the New Process Fibre Company of Greenwood, a plastics manufacturer founded by her father in 1927. She and her husband took over the ownership of the company on the death of her parents in 1962. She played piano for the Methodist Church in Greenwood in her younger days. She loved music and was an accomplished pianist. She loved to cook and loved food and trying new recipes. She had a deep faith in God and she loved to visit Israel and did so on many occasions. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Peters, who passed in 2007 shortly after they celebrated their 50th anniversary. She is survived by her four children, Carl Peters and his wife, Bonnie of Greenwood, Hans Peters and his wife, Sherry of Greeneville, TN; two daughters, Maria Christine Rust and her husband, Bill of Greenwood, Margareta Groetsema and her husband, Dale of Vancouver, WA; as well as 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with a third due next month. Services will be on Friday, Feb. 7th at 1 p.m. at the Greenwood United Methodist Church, 101 W. Market St., Greenwood with interment following at St. Johnstown Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and for the hour prior to the service on Friday. Arrangements by Fleischauer Funeral Home, Greenwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to the Greenwood United Methodist Church, PO Box 353, Greenwood, DE 19950 or to Maranatha Ministries, PO Box 3355, Wilmington, NC 28406.
