Myrtle C. Lebel, 98

SMYRNA - Myrtle C. Lebel of Smyrna died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, in Green Valley Pavilion, Smyrna. She was 98.

Mrs. Lebel was born Feb. 25, 1908, in Petersburg, daughter of the late Frank H. and Sarah (Vinson) Council.

She was a homemaker and in her earlier years owned and operated the Glenwood Inn with her husband.

Mrs. Lebel enjoyed reading and keeping in touch with family and friends through letter writing until Christmas 2006.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Lebel had an extraordinary memory and enjoyed sharing family history with the younger generation.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred J. "Fred" Lebel in 1994; a daughter, Claire in 1934; a son, Kenneth in 1983; a grandson, J.J. Lebel in 1998; five brothers, George, John, Ernest, Oakley and Frank; and a sister, Hilda Eglit.

She is survived by a son, Noel C. Lebel of Smyrna and Puerto Rico; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews including two nieces who were her caregivers, Gladys Warren and Kathleen Steele, both of Smyrna; and a former daughter-in-law, Margie Gish and her husband, Ray of Florida.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
