EASTON, Md. - Muriel Elaine Minner, passed away Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at the Easton, Maryland Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 22, 1930, at Trainer, Pa., the eldest of six children born to George and Ella (Longfellow) Rash. She graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 1948. She married Wallace "Reds" Minner and worked as a secretary for Latex in Dover for nearly 20 years. When Wallace entered the ministry, she served with him in churches in Milford, Damascus, Md., Smyrna, and Lake Worth and Hudson, Fla. Subsequently, she and Wallace were caretakers for the Wesleyan Campground in Denton, Md., until he passed away in 1985. She then enjoyed working as office secretary for the Wesleyan Retirement Center at Denton. In 1990, she married John Pigza, from Wildwood, N.J. and began residing at the Retirement Center. After being widowed a second time, she married Leroy Legar and lived in Dover, until he passed away earlier this year. She then returned to the Retirement Center where she lived until her death. Muriel was known for the organizational skills she brought to all of her activities. She was an excellent secretary, supportive minister's wife and loving mother to her two sons Larry and Delbert Mark. She worked diligently in everything she did whether it was making a home for her family, helping others or taking care of the many behind the scenes necessities known to pastor's wives. In her later years she was recognized for her passionate work as Registrar for the annual Delmarva Wesleyan Ladies' Spectacular a labor of love for her. Besides her parents George and Ella, her brother, Donald Rash and sister, Peggy Phillips, preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Larry, and his wife Janice of Forest Lake, Minn.; son, Delbert Mark, and his wife Cynthia of Gibsonville, N.C.; brother, George "Sonny" Rash of Harrington; sister, Jane Magruder and husband Russ of Seattle, Wash.; and brother, David Rash, and wife Maxine of Woodstock, Va. Also surviving her are four grandchildren, Jeremy, Angela, Heather and Ryan; and one great-grandson, Erik A funeral service will be noon, Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at the New Life Wesleyan Church, Greensboro, Md. Friends may gather prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Milford Community Cemetery, Route 113, Milford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to either the New Life Wesleyan Church of Greensboro, Md., or the Trinity Wesleyan Church in Dover. Berry-Short Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
