Minos James Wilson Sr.

GEORGETOWN - Minos James Wilson, Sr. of Georgetown, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2011, at Bayhealth @ Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 72. He was born in Georgetown, the son of the late, Samuel R., Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Littleton) Wilson. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Georgetown and UTRMC Club. After serving in the National Guard, he was an aircraft painter. Prior to that he was an industrial painter which included painting water towers. He opened a Flying A Gas station in Georgetown. He was a heavy equipment operator for various companies. He helped build roads in and around the state and also worked on the Dover Downs Racetrack. He worked for Kruger Farms, operating various kinds of equipment. As a C B radio operator he was known as "Banjo Picker", as a ham radio operator he was known as N3XBL, talking was his favorite pastime. He enjoyed drag racing his corvette when he was young, and later raced a late model. Minos and his wife Lucy have traveled and enjoyed many miles on their motorcycles, covering 48 states, Canada and Mexico. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jean E. Wilson. He is survived by his friend, companion and wife of 26 years, Lucille Wilson; three children, Bryant Wilson, Sheila Fleming and Jamie Wilson; seven stepchildren, Lucille Singer, William Hamilton, Karen Poore, Kathy Phillips, Joyce Jones, Donna Hamilton and Ruthie Keefer, brother, Sam Wilson and his wife Helen of Georgetown; 15 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday night, December 28, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at the First Baptist Church, 601 N. DuPont Hwy, Georgetown. Interment will be in Cokesbury Cemetery, Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 601 N. DuPont Hwy., Georgetown, DE 19947.
