Minnie Fleetwood Short

Minnie Fleetwood Short, 84

CARTHAGE, Mo. - Minnie Fleetwood Short of Carthage departed this life Monday, April 30, 2007, in Carthage. She was 84.

Born in Nanticoke Hundred, Sussex County, Del., on June 28, 1922, she was the daughter of the late William Cyrus and Hattie Fleetwood.

Minnie and her husband lived in several states, transferring as her husband's job with Hercules required.

She was involved in the PTA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and served as a Red Cross Gray Lady.

Minnie's personality and kindness to everyone were definite attributes that will be missed by everyone who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Short Sr., on Feb. 7, 2007; as well as several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her children, JoAnn Davis and her husband Glenn of Joplin, Miss., and James M. Short Jr. of Carthage; and several nieces and nephews living on the Delmarva Peninsula.

Private services will be today in Kneel Mortuary, Carthage, with the Rev. James Lee officiating.
