Mina J. Smith, 82

Mina J. Smith of Milford died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, in Life Care at Lofland Park, Seaford. She was 82.

Mrs. Smith was born April 18, 1924, in Salisbury, Md., daughter of the late John D. and Minnie (Callaway) Whitelock.

She was the manager of the Milford Hollywood Diner, now known as the Milford Diner, for 12 years, retiring in 1965 to become a fulltime homemaker.

Mrs. Smith was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She made time each weekday to enjoy her "television friends" on her favorite soup operas, especially "Guiding Light."

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Whitelock; and two sisters, Adella Jane Evans and Delores Morris.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Norman T. Smith Jr.; two sons and three daughters-in-law, John W. and Paulette Smith of Salisbury, Tom and Edie Smith of Lewes, and Karen Salevan of Ellendale; a daughter and a son-in-law, Bonnie and Jeff Carmine of Milford; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Joan and John Rasmussen of Fortuna, Calif., Ann Sutliff of Virginia Beach, and Pat and Fred Hubbard of Denton, Md.; an aunt, Dorothy Callaway of Bridgeville; four grandchildren, Lance Carmine and his wife Eva of Suffolk, Va., Christel Henderson of Milford, Bryan Cohen of Wilmington and Tom Smith and his wife Shannon of Milford; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call one hour prior.

Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery.
