Milo Jay 'Mike' Lessig, 90 MILLSBORO - Milo Jay "Mike" Lessig, of Millsboro, passed away at home on April 4, 2010. He was 90. Mike was born Sept. 2, 1919, in Stroudsburg, Pa., the son of Walter and Fleda Lessing. He was one of nine children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion who he was married to for 52 years. He is survived by his son, Alton Jay Lessig and wife Sarah; his daughter, Michelle E. McCabe and husband Wade. He had five grandchildren and two step grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mike was retired from the Operating Engineers Local 542. Mike was a member of the Community Church of Oak Orchard. He was a member of the Oak Orchard Cheer Center and the Pelican Cove Cheer Center since 1982. Mike was a Veteran of WWII and served his tour of duty in the South Pacific. Mike received the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with 1 bronze star and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Media with 1 bronze star along with the Victory Medal. A Committal Service will be 10 a.m., Friday, April 16, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, April 17, at the Community Church of Oak Orchard. In lieu of flowers, contributions maybe made to, Home of the Brave, 6632 Sharps Road, Milford, DE 19963, Compassionate Care Hospice, 28467 DuPont Hwy, Suite 6, Millsboro, DE 19966 and the Oak Orchard Community Church, 32615 Oak Orchard Road, Millsboro, DE 19966.
