Milford Raymond Carter, 90
FREDERICA - Milford Raymond Carter of Frederica went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at Green Valley Pavilion, Smyrna, at the blessed age of 90.
Mr. Carter served this country in the U.S. Air Force early in his life, later becoming active in civil service, retiring in 1979. After retirement, he was a full time farmer for many years.
Waiting to welcome him home were his parents, siblings, other family members and many friends. Oh, what a joyous time that must have been for all of them.
For many years Mr. Carter was a member of Hubert AME Church, Frederica, where he served on the men's choir and usher and trustee boards.
He was also a member of the Frederica Senior Center, where he served on the financial committee, and a member of the National Farmer's Association.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandson, family and friends, sitting on his porch, reading his daily newspaper and Bible, watching the news, baseball and political debates and shooting pool.
Mr. Carter faithfully attended Spencer's Bazaar, where he would spend time conversing with friends about "the good ole days" and politics.
He was loved and respected by everyone and was known to many as "Pop Pop," especially all of the children whom adored him. He was always willing to share with anyone in need or try to help in anyway he could.
Mr. Carter will be remembered for his compassion, love, generosity and kindness for everyone.
He is survived by one daughter, Keona "Kissy" Carter Martin; one grandson, Jermere Martin of Dover; one adopted granddaughter, Johndreya Dunbar of Dover; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and life long friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Bibleway Church of God in Christ, Dover, where friends may view two hours prior.
Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Veterans Cemetery, Bear.
