Mildred M. "Millie" McConnell, 67

HARRINGTON - Mildred M. "Millie" McConnell of Harrington died Monday, July 30, 2007, in Walter Reed Army Hospital, Washington, surrounded by her loving family. She was 67.

Millie was born in Petries, Newfoundland, Canada, on March 13, 1940, the daughter of the late Pierce Patrick and Sarah Rose (Locklyn) Brake.

She was a homemaker.

Millie was a loving mother and grandmother.

She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Millie especially loved traveling back to her homeland in Newfoundland, Canada.

She also enjoyed spending time by the water crabbing.

Millie was an excellent cook and was most known for her chocolate chip cookies, the best that you would ever taste.

She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, crochetting and watching NASCAR.

Millie was a member of St. Bernadette"s Catholic Church, Harrington as well as a member of the Newfie Club of Delaware.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick J. McConnell in May of 2006; a daughter-in-law, Donna Porter McConnell in January of 2006; and a sister, Gertrude Noseworthy.

She is survived by four sons, Patrick J. McConnell Jr. and his wife Diane of Ellendale, Michael W. McConnell of Dover, Edward J. McConnell and Paul W. McConnell, both of Milford; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen M. and Randy E. Cagle of Harrington; six grandchildren, Adam C. Cagle, Nicole M. McConnell, Brittany and Tiffany McConnell-Postles and Nichole and Crystal Jackson; three brothers, Edward Brake, Thomas Brake and Paul Wayne Brake, all of Newfoundland, Canada; four sisters, Rose Mary McNaught, of Terrance, British Columbia, Canada, Irene Stratton, of Newfoundland, Canada, Esther Byrne, of Labrador City, Labrador, Canada, and Kathleen Smith, of Oshua, Ontario, Canada; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave., Milford.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Friday in St. Bernadettes Catholic Church, 109 Dixon St., Harrington, where friends may call after 11 a.m.

Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, Del. 1, Milton.
