MILFORD - Miguel A. A. "Big Mike" Figueroa, of Milford, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, in Renaissance Nursing Home, Long Neck. He was 74.
Miguel was born June 17, 1933, in Juncos, Puerto Rico.
He came to Delaware early in his life and began work at the pickle plant in Milford.
It was also were he met his sweetheart, the late E. Elizabeth Figueroa.
They later adopted one child, a daughter, Constance Horsey, and were married in May of 1972 when they then moved to Slaughter Neck and lived until the death of his wife in 1996.
After the death of his wife, Miguel then moved to Milford to live with his daughter and her family.
It was during this period of time that Miguel gave his life to the Lord at Jesus Love Temple Church under the leadership of Pastor Kevin Smith.
Miguel loved life and enjoyed sharing his love of life with all of those around him.
During his life, Miguel worked several different places until finding his niche at Community Action in Georgetown, where he worked until health-related illnesses forced his departure.
He enjoyed watching sports on television, especially baseball and wrestling, making trips down to Slaughter Beach and teaching his grandchildren how to fix different things.
In addition, Miguel also enjoyed gardening.
He would grow fruits and vegetables to be sold around town as well as to fill his yard with trees and plants of all kinds that still blossom every year to this very day.
He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Constance Horsey and a son-in-law Jeffrey Horsey, both of Milford; three grandchildren, Victoria and Lictoria Bryant, both of Milford, and Jeffrey Bryant, who is currently stationed at Fort Dix in New Jersey; two great-granddaughters, Angele Henson of Milford, and SaNyi Bryant of Harrington, a really close and special friend Alberto (Ciago) who resides in Puerto Rico, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be noon Saturday in Windows of Heaven Ministries, 203 N.E. Front St., Milford, where a viewing will be two hours prior.
Burial will be private.
Family requests donations instead of flowers.
Arrangements by Young & McPherson Funeral Home, Milford.
