Michaele Jeane Barnes of Lewes died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 64.
Mrs. Barnes was born Dec. 6, 1942, in Wilmington, daughter of the late William Stanley Patterson and Carole Lea White.
She served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army as a young woman.
Mrs. Barnes was an active member of the Cape Henlopen School District PTA and served as its president at various times throughout her son's attendance.
Her greatest ambition in life was to be a good mother and she was a mom to so many, young and old alike. Her unconditional love will be sorely missed.
During the last decade of her life, despite immense physical suffering, she tirelessly dedicated her time and resources to the National Lupus Foundation and the Northport Crisis House Operation, Georgetown.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Robert Brown Barnes; a son and a daughter-in-law, Matthew Jensen Barnes and Cara A. Dustmann; and numerous extended family members.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today in Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Crossroads Community Church, U.S. 13, Bridgeville.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Michaele J. Barnes Northport Christmas Fund, 18414 Sandhill Road, Georgetown, DE 19947.
