CHESTERTOWN, MD - Mervin R. Cohey died September 4, 2015 at home. Mr. Cohey was born on November 11, 1926 in Ingleside, son of the late Charles H. and Ella Ireland Cohey. Mr. Cohey began his career working as a farmer and at the Acme, until enlisting in the U. S. Army during WWII. After his honorable discharge in 1947 he continued farming and delivered Auto Parts for Eastern Shore Auto Supply. He retired from General Foods in Dover after 20 years of Service. He was a member of the Chestertown Church of the Nazarene and American Legion Post 36. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Esther Lucht in 2014 and 8 siblings. Mr. Cohey is survived by his daughters, Tina Hagelgans of Crumpton, MD. and Lori Cohey-Hassell of Brockton, MA; son-in-law Robert Hassell; a sister Betty Lou Walraven of Millington; a grandson, Adam Hagelgans of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Jessica Wolst of Dordrecht, the Netherlands, a grandson-in-law Randolf Wolst and a great-grandson Daniel Wolst. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 8 from 6 to 8 pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 11 am in Chestertown Church of the Nazarene, 6943 Church Hill Rd. Chestertown, MD. Burial in Crumpton Cemetery.
