Melvyn Winters passed on February 8, 202.
He was born on March 19, 1936, Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Dover High School, Dover, N.J. He was a member of their track team. He had several jobs before working at General Foods and Church & Dwight as a Lab Tech. He retired from both companies. While working for General Foods, he was part of a team that developed the Apricot flavoring for Jell-O and Entenmann's packaging, which led to a patent. He received several acknowledgements for his work.
Mel was an avid photographer, a "Ford"-man, and tinkered with anything electronic. He loved family gatherings, where he was always the photographer. He had a green thumb and enjoyed his lawn. He will be remembered for his love of his motorcycles, Disney and the World's Fair. He also enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and helping the Cub Scouts.
He is survived by his wife, Carole, married for 64 years; his children, Wendy Coyle (Bob), Steven, David, and Jill Dewey (Jeff); his ten grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was fond of his pets, especially his latest cat "Bella'. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2022 with visitation starting at 12:30 p.m.
at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambuso, 1175 South State St., Dover, Del.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in his memory to Brandywine SPCA or the Wounded Warrior Project.
Condolences may be made via www.ambruso.com
