SMYRNA - Melverna "Mel" Carmeleta McFarlane passed away on July 27, 2016. She was born Nov. 2, 1957 in Hanover, Jamaica, the daughter of the late Arnold and Lilly Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Myrl. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Woodrow; her son, Craig McFarlane and his wife, Krystle, of Wilmington; her daughter, Janine McFarlane, of Kailua, Hawaii; three brothers; and four sisters. A viewing will be held on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Townsend Free Will Baptist Church, located at 4519 Dupont Pkwy, Townsend.
