GREENWOOD - Matthew Santich, Jr. died on February 26, 2021, at the Country Rest Home. He was born February 2, 1936 to the late Matthew and Palma Santich of Duryea, Pa.
He graduated from Duryea High School in 1953. He graduated from Temple University and obtained a Communications Engineers License by the Federal Communications Commission with a First Class F.C.C. License and a Ship Radar Endorsement. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked for the Department of Defense in several different areas. He attended many electronic schools, furthering his education in the electronics field. Matthew maintained an electronics business in Montauk N.Y., servicing the Commercial Fishing Fleet. After moving to the family farm in Delaware, he attended Delaware Technical Community College pursuing an agriculture education to grow organic vegetables. He also possessed a private pilot's license.
Matthew lived on his beloved farm until the last week of his life. He found that farming was his favorite occupation. He loved the Lord and had a great interest in studying and discussing the Bible. He will be missed by his family, many friends and his "brothers and sisters" at the Greenwood Mennonite Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol-Ann, following 22 years of marriage. He was previously married to Joan Alice Dooneer and is survived by their four children, Matthew III, Kevin, Colleen, and Victoria all of Long Island, N.Y. He is also survived by his sister, Palma Baldi of Massachusetts.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at the Greenwood Mennonite Church, 12525 Shawnee Rd., Greenwood DE 19950.
