Matthew Joseph Sitkowski, 86 REHOBOTH BEACH - Matthew Joseph Sitkowski, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 86. He was born Feb. 23, 1922, in Philadelphia, son of Ignatius and Helen (Cirnik) Sitkowski. Mr. Sitkowski relocated to the beach area in 1990 from Media, Pa. He had worked for 43 years as a lead aircraft mechanic and maintenance foreman for Trans World Airlines at Philadelphia International Airport. He was a member of the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers. He was also a member of the Ocean View VFW Post 7234 and an World War II Air Force veteran who served in the European Theatre. Mr. Sitkowski enjoyed fishing, cooking and gardening. He was a loving father and was devoted to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters. He is survived by seven children, Matthew J. Sitkowski Jr. and wife Mary Anne of Coral Gables, Fla., Nancy Wilson of West Chester, Pa., Janice Sitkowski of West Chester, Terry Unger and husband Jim of Sparta, N.J., Jean Nelson and husband Tim of Exton, Pa., Joan Sabrick and husband Michael of Malvern, Pa., and Michael Sitkowski and wife Joyce of Garnet Valley, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A Catholic Blessing Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where the family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be at a later date in Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Catholic Charities of Delaware, P.O. Box 2610, Wilmington, DE 19805.
