Matilda H. Jackewicz, 79

MAGNOLIA - Matilda H. Jackewicz of Magnolia died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 79.

Mrs. Jackewicz was born in Riverhead, N.Y., daughter of the late Walter and Anna Kobylenski.

She moved from Long Island, N.Y., to the Dover area in 1953.

Mrs. Jackewicz worked with her husband in the family business, Joseph Jackewicz Farms. She served as a partner, managing different aspects of the business.

In her younger years, she served on the Grader Line. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed gardening, cooking and reading. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Jackewicz was a longtime member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality at Holy Cross Church and often served as a volunteer at the Holy Cross High School. Mrs. Jackewicz was also a longtime member of the Kent County Farm Bureau.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joseph Jackewicz Sr.; three children, Joseph Jr. and his wife Gracelyn Jackewicz of Dover, Thomas Jackewicz of Momence, Ill., and Shirley Jackewicz of Cairo, Egypt; three brothers, Leonard Kobylenski, Walter Kobylenski and Harry Kobylenski, all of Long Island; a sister, Emily Jackewicz of Sarasota, Fla.; two grandchildren, Thomas Jackewicz and Stephen Jackewicz, both of Dover; and a special niece, Susan Jackewicz of Sarasota.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover.

A Mass of Chrsitian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Cross Church.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Brothers of Good Shepherd Inc., P.O. Box 260, Momence, IL 60954; or to Holy Cross Church, 631 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901.
