Mary S. Bennett

DOVER - Mary S. Bennett passed away Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017 at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.
Mrs. Bennett was born Nov. 4, 1927 in Chester, Pa. to the late Earl Shockley, Sr. and Catherine Hardy Shockley.
She worked as a telephone operator for Diamond State Telephone Company, then as a clerk in the Trust Department for Farmers Bank prior to working for the State of Delaware as a clerk/typist retiring in 1991. Mrs. Bennett attended Lebanon Wesleyan Church and was a member of the Modern Maturity Center, Harvest Years Senior Center and the Ladies Auxiliary for the Diamond State Beagle Club. She enjoyed crafts and crocheting. Her biggest joy in life was her family, she was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be missed dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Bennett; and brothers, Earl Shockley, Jr., Charles Shockley, Gerald Shockley and William Shockley.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Hadley (Charles) of Dover and Kathy Kohout (Jim) of Camden; grandchildren, Jennifer Herholdt, Chris Kohout, Denise Cinelli and Paula Kohout; great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Jessica Herholdt, Bailey and Brooke Kohout, Nicholas and Kayla Cinelli, Wyatt Long and Jaylynn Webb; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (RT.10), Dover. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to your favorite charity.
