FEDERALSBURG - Mary O. Borthwick formerly of Blackbird, Del. passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at Salisbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013. Born on Sept. 12, 1919 in Maine, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Elsie (Houston) Obie. Mary enjoyed being a homemaker and was a wonderful mother to her four children. She loved crocheting and especially enjoyed making doilies for all of her friends. Before moving to Maryland, Mary lived in the Blackbird area for more than 60 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James G. Borthwick in 1999; a son, James in 1984 and six siblings. She leaves many wonderful memories to her son, John Borthwick of Townsend, Del.; two daughters, Betty Staats of Federalsburg, Md. and Jane Hurd of Clayton, Del.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held noon on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street in Middletown, where friends may visit with her family one hour prior.
