DOVER - Mrs. Mary Lou Rogers Wolfe, born in St. Albans, West Virginia, on February 16, 1930, to Dolly and Bill Rogers, passed away on January 8, 2016. She was the youngest of seven children. Mrs. Wolfe grew up in Clay County, West Virginia and attended the West Virginia Institute of Technology where she met and married WWII Navy veteran W. Frank Wolfe. She later earned a bachelors degree in elementary education at the University of Delaware, specializing in teaching exceptional children. After her career in and retirement from the Caesar Rodney School District, Mrs. Wolfe became actively involved in women's clubs. In researching her family history, she verified that in 1774 her ancestor, John A. Skidmore, Captain of the Virginia Militia, led his company at the Battle of Point Pleasant, one of the first battles of the Revolutionary War. In 1997 she was certified a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (Colonel Haslet Chapter). Mrs. Wolfe was also a devoted member and two-term president of the GFWC Round Table Club of Wyoming Camden Delaware, an affiliate of the international General Federation of Women's Clubs. Mrs. Wolfe was an avid reader and participant in various educational and life-long learning programs. She enjoyed spending time at the beach and traveling with her husband, especially on supply ships in the Caribbean. Strong in her faith and an active congregant in the Calvary Assembly of God, she now travels to her greatest destination-God's Heaven. Mrs. Wolfe was predeceased by her parents, three sisters, three brothers, and her son-in-law, Vincent "Buzz" Chastang. She is survived by her husband Walter Frank Wolfe and her three children: daughter, Gail Margaret "Peggy" Chastang; son, David Wolfe and his wife, Megan; and son, Thomas Wolfe and his wife, Julie. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A combined memorial service for Mrs. and Mr. Wolfe will be held at a later date.
