DOVER, Del. - Mary-Lou Hagelberg passed away peacefully in her home on June 17, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.
Mary-Lou was born on January 1, 1940 in The Bronx, New York, to John and Beatrice (Kelly) Greene. She was an avid NASCAR fan and collector of Jeff Gordon memorabilia. Mary-Lou liked to garden, and with her green thumb could get just about anything to grow. Roses were her absolute favorite. She loved to read, enjoying thrillers and crime fiction. When she wasn't grubbing in the dirt or perusing a novel, Mary-Lou could often be found playing the slots at Dover Downs. She invariably won something. She spent several years supporting her husband as a military wife, and after his retirement, she continued to work for the Air Force as the operations secretary for the Civil Engineering Squadron until her own retirement in 2002.
Mary-Lou was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Patricia; and her daughter, Mary Elizabeth.
She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Msgt (Ret.) Paul Hagelberg; her sister, Claire Taylor; her children, Sharon Blanton (Fairfax, Va.), Michael Blanton (Walker, La.), and Marianne (Blanton) Laughlin (Woburn, Mass.); five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2022 at Lakeside Cemetery, S. State Street, Dover, Del.
Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com
