GREENSBORO - Mary J. Boyd of Greensboro, Md. died on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Easton Memorial Hospital. She was born October 4, 1933 in Richmond Va. Mary lived in Baltimore until she was 12 years old and then moved to Roswell, New Mexico. She later moved to Greensboro where she resided until her death. As a teenager Mary worked as a waitress in Rehoboth Beach for three summers and enjoyed wonderful, carefree summers. Mary loved school and was very proficient in shorthand and typing and enjoyed a long career as a secretary employing these skills. She worked at International Latex Corp. & ILC Industries both in Dover, Del.; Bayshore Foods in Easton; C.W. Amos & Co. in Denton and a few other positions. Mary had many dear friends during her career. These friends remained close many years after they no longer worked together. She also enjoyed music, reading and watching television. She also loved sweets, especially the cakes and goodies her sister in-law Cindy brought her. Mary loved family most of all and spent many happy hours with them. She especially enjoyed her many home cooked meals at her son and daughter in-laws house. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Charles E. "Sonny" Boyd; and her brother, Frank Kelly of Houston, Texas. She is survived by her son, David Boyd; and daughter in-law, Diane of Greensboro; granddaughter, Jessica Kastel and great grandson, Chance of St. Michaels; brother in-laws, Allen Boyd and wife Cindy of Greensboro and Eddie Kibler and wife Hazel of Henderson; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 30th, 2016, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro. Burial will be private.
