Mary Ellen Hopkins

MILLSBORO - Mary Ellen Hopkins of Millsboro, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015. She was 93 years old. She was born on April 16, 1922 in Littleton, N.C. to the late Bat and Amanda Watson. In 1937 she moved with her family to Baltimore, Md. Later, at the age of 15 she met and married Curtis D. Hopkins, her husband of 44 years and they settled in Millsboro. To this union there were born six children, Daniel Curtis, John Sylvester, Mozell Estelle, Samuel Ray, Robert Lee and Nathaniel. Mary's husband, Curtis and three of her children; Daniel, Samuel (Margaret Ann) and Mozell (Harvey) preceded her in death. She is survived by one brother, Joe Watson of Baltimore; and three sons, John, Robert (Evelyn) of Millsboro, and Nathaniel (Edith) of Largo, Md. Other survivors include 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Mary was a hard worker. She loved to plant flowers in the yard, cook and sew. Sewing became her favorite passion. She became a professional Seamstress working for the Sport Craft/Dressco Corporation for many years. A funeral service were 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends called after 11 a.m. Friends also called from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015 also at the funeral home. Burial followed at Old Field Cemetery in Millsboro. Flowers were welcome or a contribution to a charity of your choice in Mary's name would be greatly appreciated.
