Mary Elizabeth Walls, 70

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Mary Elizabeth Walls of Chestertown died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, in Chester River Hospital Center, Chestertown. She was 70.

Mrs. Walls was born Sept. 14, 1936, in Ridgley, daughter of the late James W. and Mary Virginia (Royer) Jones.

She graduated from Ridgely High School.

Mrs. Walls worked with Tidewater Publishing for 15 years, Chester River Hospital Center, Great Oak and, most recently, with her husband in their retail seafood business.

She enjoyed playing cards and traveling, and truly loved her family.

Mrs. Walls was a member of Double Creek United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Robert Clough, in 1986; two sisters, Lela Ann Arbeene and Emma Middleton; a nephew, Brian Howland; and a grandson, Keith Towers.

She is survived by her husband, Bills Walls Sr., whom she married Sept. 13, 1997; six sons and five daughters-in-law, Jay and Cindy Clough of Chestertown, Tony and Tammy Clough of Rock Hall, Tommy and Becky Towers of Seaford, Del., Francis Redmiles of Webster, Mass., and Adam and Annette Walls, and Bill and Deanna Walls, all of Chestertown; a daughter and a son-in-law, Beth and Mike Selinger of Annapolis; three brothers, James Jones of Seattle, Wayne Jones of Virginia Beach, Va., and Wesley Jones of New Mexico; two sisters, Carolyn Swain of Greensboro and Henrietta Smith of Clayton, Del.; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her caregiver and best friend, Suzy Ford of Millington.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, where friends also may call one hour earlier.

Burial will be in Church Hill Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers will be Butch Bramble, Pete Ramirez, Greg Towers, Jay Clough, Tony Clough, Bobby Clough, Adam Walls and Bill Walls Jr.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Crumpton Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 68, Crumpton, MD 21628; or to Double Creek United Methodist Church, PO Box 187, Millington, MD 21651.
