Mary DeShields, 69

SMYRNA - Mary DeShields, of Smyrna, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 69.

She was born on June 20, 1938, in West Jefferson, N.C., daughter of the late Charles and Marie (Eller) Mahaffey.

Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed flower arrangement, antiques and cooking.

She is survived by her husband of 11 years, Frank DeShields; three children, Mary Lomeli of Glendale, Ariz., and Johnny McGinnis and Caleb Moore, both of Smyrna; four brothers, Robert Mahaffey, Wayman Mahaffey of Harrington, Mark Mahaffey of Dover and Mike Mahaffey of Woodside; a sister, Josephine Eaton of Smyrna; and seven grandchildren, Elena Lomeli of Tucson, Ariz., Stephanie Lomeli of Phoenix, Ariz., Rhonda Snow of Smyrna, John Allen of St. Petersburg, Fla., Desiree McGinnis of St. Petersburg, Anna Marie Borntrigger of West Virginia and Caleb McGinnis of Smyrna.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Smyrna.

Instead of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720-1633.
