Mary Ann Matthews, 72

SEAFORD - Mary Ann Matthews, of Seaford, passed away on March 23, 2009, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. She was 72. Mrs. Matthews is survived by her sons, H. Edward Matthews, Patrick Matthews, William Matthews, and Joseph Matthews; her daughters, Theresa Smith, Karen Bateman, Susan Matthews, Mary Matthews, Kathryn Matthews, and Charlotte LeCates; a life long companion, George Nathan Bailey; a brother, John McGrath; 22 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Seaford. A viewing was held at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, Laurel. The Rev. Father Joseph Hurley, C.Ss.R. officiated. Interment was private. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1138 Parsons Rd., Salisbury, MD 21803.
