HURLOCK, Md. - Mary Adams of Hurlock passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at home with her family. She was 63.
Mary was born July 16, 1944, in East New Market, daughter of the late Emory and Jessie (Strawberry) Adams.
Mary attended the public schools of Dorchester County and graduated in 1962 from Mace"s Lane High School.
She was employed at Warwick Manor for 25 years in the dietary department as a cook, until retirement because of an illness.
Mary enjoyed shopping, talking with friends and family by phone, and without question, she loved to cook.
Mary loved her family deeply and was known for making great corn pudding and chicken salad.
She had an engagingly warm smile that had a positive affect on all who knew her.
Mary was a devoted church member of Thompson Chapel United Methodist Church, which later merged with Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in East New Market. The merger is now known as Faith Community United Methodist Church.
She was involved in various church activities. Mary was a member of the Labala Singers, the usher board and the United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Adams and Mary Alice Carr.
She is survived by her daughter, Shenyne Adams; two grandchildren who were extremely special to her, Garry Warner and Monique Adams, all of East New Market; a lovingly devoted companion of 43 years, Tindley Parker; one sister, Dolly Rhodes and her husband Daniel of Hurlock; a brother, Charles Adams and wife Willie Mae of Florence, S.C.; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a niece, raised like a sister, Clara Watkins and her husband Robert, and Valentina Thompson, Lolita Ferguson and her husband John, Daniel, Alicia, Dwayne and Karen Rhodes, Marvin, Lashelle, Bobby and Dennis Adams, Laverne Strawberry, Keith Brown, Myra Neal and Tracy Molock and her husband Derrick; two godchildren, Ashley Watkins and Albert Carter IV; special sisters/friends, Delores Cornish, Linda Pinkett and Ernestine Saunders; and many more great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to list.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Faith Community United Methodist Church. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the church.
