SMYRNA - Martin J. Scott, of Smyrna, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009, in Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 45. He was born on Sept. 1, 1963, in Inglewood, Calif. Martin served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force from 1981-1991. After the military he was working as an instructor for Flight Safety International in Wilmington for the past eight years. He was a member of the Big Brothers, Aero Club, DAFB and Tuskeegee Airman. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Karen (Brittingham) Scott; a daughter, Tess M. Scott of Smyrna; a son, Aaron B. Scott of Smyrna; his parents, Mark and Sally (Johnson) Scott of Dover, Pa.; four sisters, Donna Birmingham, Myra Gray and her husband Joe, Lucinda Birmingham and Millicent Scott, all of Chicago, Ill.; three brothers, Milton Scott and his wife Angela of Seattle, Wash., Michael Scott of Chicago, and Mark Scott Jr. of Pontiac, Mich.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 27, at the Crossroad Christian Church, 4867 N. DuPont Hwy., Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
