DOVER - Mrs. Marthena Mary Watson, of Dover, passed away quietly at her daughter's home on Sunday, March 15, 2009, after an extended illness. She was 98. Mrs. Watson was a resident of Matawan, N.J., for over 60 years and moved to Dover in 2000. After an in-depth study of the Bible, she dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1960. She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Felton. She is survived by her daughters, Marthena Summers of Dover, and Priscilla Mullings of Long Branch, N.J.; four grandchildren, Ondrea Murphy (Marcus), David Mullings (Adrienne), Steven Mullings (Dalcy) and Andrew Mullings (Sarah), all of New Jersey; three great-grandchildren, Imani Murphy, Isha Murphy, and Jalen Mullings; three sisters-in-law, Joan Brito, Beatrice Langley of New Jersey, and Irene Watson of California. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. The family extends their most sincere gratitude to the Wilmington-Dover unit of the Compassionate Care Hospice. Family requests that no flowers be sent. Funeral services will be from 5:30- 6:30 p.m. today, March 19, at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call from 4-5:30 p.m. and 6:30-8 p.m. A viewing, service and burial will take place in New Jersey on Friday March 20.
