DOVER - Martha B. Porter, of Dover, formerly of Harrington, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the Silver Lake Nursing Home, Dover.
Martha was born in Huntingdon, Tenn. the daughter of the late Judge and Blanche Wilson. She worked as a teachers aide for many years at the Lake Forest South Elementary School. She was a very religious woman. She loved the Lord, reading her Bible and singing. She also enjoyed cooking. Most important to Martha was her family, especially her grandson and great grandson, whom they lovingly referred to her as "Grannybelle". In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edgar Porter in 1992; four brothers, Dewey Wilson, Earl Wilson, Milford Wilson and Sam Wilson; and three sisters, Margaret Thompson, Eleanor Mench and Jessie Merchant.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonita Welch; her grandson, Tim Welch and his wife Susan; and her great-grandson, Zachery Welch.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018 at the McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce Street, Harrington where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
