Mark K. Sweetman, 54
DOVER - Mark K. Sweetman passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home on Thursday, June 24, 2021.
Mr. Sweetman was born May 1, 1967, in Kent General Hospital, Dover, Delaware, to Gary Sweetman and Beverly Johnson Sweetman.
Growing up Mark was very active in the Boy Scouts and was an Eagle Scout. He received his bachelor's degree in Political Science and Secondary Education with a minor in Philosophy from Delaware State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He worked as a technician at Proctor& Gamble for 23 years.
In addition to his parents; Mark is survived by his wife of 27 years, Anna Merlo Sweetman of Dover; his daughter, Miranda Sweetman of Lancaster, Pa.; and his brother, Dwayne Sweetman and wife Elaine of Charlottesville, Va.
Mark was loved dearly by his family and friends. Family describes him as the dependable son, the loving husband, and the best Field Trip Dad. He's remembered by many for his sense of humor, giving spirit and his willingness to stand up for the little guy. Mark lived by the motto "I'm there for you, No Matter What." Some friends even described him as a "rent a husband" willing to give a helping hand as long as the other hand was free for a Natural Light.
He loved playing guitar, writing lyrics with his buddies, perfecting his famous Boston Cream pie and drinking beer. Mark's secret dream in life was driven by his passion for music, to be a Rockstar and to have family and friends as his Backup Band.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 2, 2021 at 3 p.m., at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 East Lebanon Rd., Dover, Del. Friends may call two hours prior to the service. Additionally, the service will be live streamed on torbertfuneral.com
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made TO: American Cancer Society or Delaware HOSPICE.
Letters of condolence may be sent, and the guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com
