Garfinkel DOVER - It is with deep sadness and regret that we begin this new year with the loss of our sweet sister Marisa who passed away peacefully on Dec. 31, 2015 at the young age of 31. Marisa grew up in Dover, Del.. She received her RN from Delaware Technical and Community College in 2006 and BSN from Wilmington University in 2014. Marisa had a huge heart, which is the exact reason she chose her profession as a nurse. She had an uncanny ability to lovingly care for complete strangers and forge long lasting relationships with patients, colleagues and others within our community. Marisa was very generous and always put her family, friends and complete strangers before herself. Her special gift to the community was the amount of time she spent with Animal Rescues and at Rescue Shelters and the SPCA. She was a true whisperer. Marisa is survived by her parents, William and Mary; her brothers and sisters, Brandon, Brenna, Erin, Edward, Cailah and Jeremy; and her nephews and nieces, Liam, Conlen, Lila, Pheby, and Jamison. In addition, several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and colleagues, all who's lives she touched in so many uncountable ways. Marisa will be sorely missed by her furry friends - CoCo, Clyde, Chloe, Romeo and Juliet. We will never be able to formulate the words and express just how AMAZING Marisa was as a daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Her kindness, beautiful smile, infectious laugh and warmth will be missed every day by all who knew her. Our brightest light has become an angel. Peace be with you Marisa. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Jewish Community Cemetery, 401 Foulk Road, Wilmington, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to your local SPCA or animal rescue shelter in Marisa's name.
